Established in 1940, Kings Canyon is the park John Muir called a rival of Yosemite, with granite walls and big trees to back it up. This laser cut ornament design captures the canyon between two tall evergreens, its steep walls cut in layered reds and browns.
The file is an intarsia inspired mosaic for your laser: twelve pieces cut from six woods, with the woods supplying all the color. It's one of our Scrap Busters, made for the leftover pieces already in your wood pile. Cut one for your own tree, a few to give to friends, or a stack to sell at craft shows.

- Kerf and no kerf files provided. The kerf files have a .002 inch offset already added, a one size fits most option if you don't know your laser's kerf. The no kerf files are for makers who want to apply their own laser's kerf.
- Printable Color Planner to map out wood species and painted pieces before you cut.
- Written instructions with a file overview and assembly review.
Material and thickness
- Designed for 1/8 inch (3mm) or 1/4 inch (6mm) wood.
- Designed for wood. 6 different wood grains create the contrast and texture. No paint needed. No wood? No problem. Paint the pieces or use acrylic instead.
Sorted by wood species, rotated for grain
The files are sorted by wood species and the pieces are rotated to follow the grain, so your finished project has a clean, intentional look without you having to rearrange anything in your design software. We do this on every design that uses multiple wood species.
