Description

For a game you can learn in a minute, Reversi has a quarrelsome past. Two Englishmen each claimed to have invented it in 1883, and each called the other a fraud. Othello, the version patented in Japan in 1971, is played on the same 8 by 8 board with the same 64 discs, light on one side and dark on the other. With this laser cut Reversi game file, you can cut that board in wood, with a quilt inspired star in every space.

Build the board on its own, or with a storage box built in underneath to hold the discs between games. For the discs, glue maple to walnut for a two sided set, or cut one color and score a star on one side, so one player takes the star side and the other the plain side. It's made for anyone building a collection of heirloom games, whether that's you, someone on your gift list or the shoppers at your next market.

What is included

Reversi game board with 64 spaces, finished size 13.6 x 10.85 inches, roughly 0.85 inches high.
Two ways to build it: with a storage box built in, or as a board without the box.
Box version: slotted top, top overlay, sides, lip and a game box base with a scored quilt pattern.
Board only version: base and top.
Two sided discs: one sheet in each color, glued together for 64 discs.
Scored discs: 64 discs with a star scored on one side.
Optional disc jig for the two sided discs.
5 file formats: SVG, AI, EPS, DXF, PDF.
Includes 29 different slot and tab sizes for the box, already formatted for you, to speed up the time from opening the file to finishing the project.
One joined file set for LightBurn users, with .25 inch slots and .50 inch tabs.
Files are formatted to fit an 18.5 x 10.85 inch cutting area.
Written instructions with a file overview and assembly review.

Material and thickness

Uses 1/4 inch (6mm) and 1/8 inch (3mm) wood.
Wood used: mahogany for the board and box, maple and walnut for the two sided discs.
We recommend 1/8 inch (3mm) wood for the top overlay, so it creates a lip.
Cut the scored discs from 1/4 inch (6mm) wood so they're easy to pick up out of the 1/8 inch (3mm) spaces.
Glue for the top overlay, the lip and the two sided discs, and for the tabs if needed.
Masking as needed.

Compatible with most laser cutters

Compatible with xTool, OMTech, Thunder, Aeon, Trotec, and other CO2 and diode lasers.

Your license to use our design files

When you buy or receive a design file from us, you're getting a license to use it. You aren't buying the design itself. Welcome Home Custom Designs, LLC owns every design, file, layout and set of instructions, and keeps all rights not granted here.

Our files are for personal use and limited commercial use, which means making physical products. Unless a listing says otherwise, you're welcome to:

Cut and build the design for yourself or as gifts.
Sell the finished physical pieces you make, at shows, in shops, on your own website and on marketplaces like Etsy.
Resize a file or adjust its slots to suit your machine and your wood.

You may not:

Resell, share, give away or redistribute the files themselves, in whole or in part. That includes passing them to another maker or business and posting them in groups or on file sharing sites.
Use any part of our files, designs, artwork, structure, file setup, layout, layering format, numbering system, color coding, tab and slot configuration, or any other unique organizational feature to create or sell your own files, digital templates or competing products, whether free or for profit.
Copy, trace, reverse engineer or rework our files or designs, or use them as inspiration, to make design files, patterns or templates of your own to sell or share. This covers the visual design, the artistic concept, functional design elements, file naming conventions and formatting. It doesn't limit the finished physical pieces you're allowed to make and sell above.

If you break these license terms, we may revoke your license immediately, remove your access to future designs and to our groups, and take legal action, including asking a court to stop the use and award damages.

Designs released through the Laser Art Society carry this same license.
