Few board games come with a legend of an emperor playing them with people as the pieces, but Pachisi does. Akbar, the Mughal ruler of India, is said to have played it on a courtyard laid out as a giant board. In Victorian England, a simpler version took the name Ludo, and it's still played around the world. This laser cut Ludo Pachisi game file lets you build the board in wood, along with a decorative storage box to keep it in.
Marbles serve as the playing pieces, four to a player, and a little paint matched to the marble colors marks each player's home. The board is cut in sections that fit an 18.5 x 10.85 inch cutting area, and it comes apart again to store in the box. Our board has a cherry track and walnut corners, and it looks good enough to leave out on the table between games. At a craft show or market, a finished board and box gives shoppers a reason to stop at your table. It's also the kind of gift a game loving family can pass down.

Material and thickness
- 1/4 inch (6mm) wood is preferred for the game board, for stability.
- Use 1/8 inch (3mm) or 1/4 inch (6mm) wood for the box.
- Wood used: cherry and walnut for the game board, mahogany for the box.
- Wood for the game board: one 17.25 x 7 inch piece, two 18.5 x 10.85 inch pieces and two 17.5 x 9.75 inch pieces.
- Wood for the box: 17.75 x 10.75, 18 x 10.5 and 11 x 10.5 inches.
- Paint in your marble colors for each player's home.
- Marbles in 4 colors, .63 inches in diameter, and 2 dice.
- Glue or adhesive to attach the top pieces to the base.
- Masking as needed.
