We cut our bat and moon with walnut filigree over a cedar backer, and the warm red of the cedar shows through every opening. No other mammal can fly the way a bat does, and this one has its wings spread wide. This laser cut Halloween file makes the filigree bat and a matching crescent moon, each standing on an ornate base.
Assembly is simple: glue each filigree overlay onto its backer, then slide the backer's tab into the ornate base and the solid base below it. Stand the pair on a mantel or a shelf for the whole month of October. A set makes a good gift for the neighbor who goes all out for Halloween, and a few batches will fill out your table at fall craft shows. It also pairs with our Filigree Box design, sold separately.

Material and thickness
- Choose the slot size that fits your wood. The sizes run from .111 to .250 inch.
- Wood used: cedar for the backers and bases, walnut for the filigree overlay.
- Wood needed: 14 x 10.25 inches for the backers and bases, 10.25 x 7.5 inches for the overlay.
- Glue to attach the overlays. Masking is optional.
